Easy Homemade Meatballs: Healthy Dinner Kids Love in Under 30 Minutes

Sometimes a commitment to “Real Food” or “Whole Foods” feels like we’re cutting out “kid foods.”  Pshaw!  Not here at The W.

These kid-approved homemade meatballs are on the table in under 30 minutes, start to finish.  Eat clean, and enjoy!

Turkey Meatballs

  • 1 lb lean ground turkey (organic free-range or kosher pref.; I use 93%-7%)
  • 1 egg, beaten (organic free-range pref.)
  • 1/3 cup whole wheat panko OR rolled oats
  • 1-2 tsp each dried oregano, basil, & thyme
  • olive oil

Grease 9×13 baking dish with olive oil (I use a refillable spray pump).  Place in oven, then preheat oven to 400 degrees.

In medium mixing bowl, mix together turkey, egg, panko/oats, and seasonings.  Remove heated baking dish from oven.  With clean hands, roll meat mixture into golfball-sized meatballs in your palms.  Place meatballs in baking dish, about 1 inch apart.

Bake 15 minutes, turn meatballs over, and bake an additional 5 minutes.

Yield: 15-18 meatballs.

Serve with whole wheat pasta and marinara sauce, or a tasty dipping sauce of your choice!  Can be refrigerated up to one week, or frozen.  Recipe can easily be multiplied.
